Before World War II France controlled Vietnam and Japan took over Vietnam during the World War II. The leader of the Vietnam was Ho Chi Minch and he created 2 formal communist paths that led to revolt and strike against the French. On September 2nd, 1945 Ho Chi and the Vietnamese declared independence. Ho Chi settled for normal autonomy as a member of the French Union. By the end of 1943 the French took Japan out of Vietnam and took it back over. The United States aided the French during the French Indochina War by them giving France $15 million as an aid.
